<Or maybe I am only seeing the negative. >

Iraq is a frontier where a new battle is going on between forces of medievalism and anarchy joining hands together to deny Middle East its new tryst with freedom. That’s a new frontier, new dimension and the haste of events have shocked the entire region.

The problem is that most of these guys have no idea of the region they have zero understanding what needs to be done, like Carl wants freedom in Iraq but without doing nothing about Saddam that is the problem, removal of Saddam has opened a Pandora box but as resulted into major change, look around in Middle East the forces of extremism are in retreat, pre 911 where USA interest were an open invitation today it is the war taken to the houses of these lunatics, they were on the verge of conquering Pakistan pre 911, they had every reason to cow Pakistan into submission and install a extremist government, now the policies of my country that was at the epicenter of global jihad has adopted has resulted into massive bonanza in economic activities, the peace efforts between 1.5 billion people are a result of US intervention and most active one.

Now Iraq is not about Saddam it is about change of regional hegemonies in shape of these ruthless dictators and extremists. This change could not have been possible the way these liberals people wanted, today from Libya to Indonesia the terrorists networks are being uprooted for the benefit of poor people of our region, no one and no one has benefited the most from invasion of Iraq than the poorest hit Muslims of the entire region. Would Carl imagine the collateral benefit of global peace and economic boom that is helping our region, this is the point he is stuck in time, he think Iraq as Baghdad and Fallujah massacres as beginning of new insurgency. I think this is continuation of a long term change process that will definitely result into a middle east that will not have incubators cells that planned Cole, the Kenya and 911 itself. Yes it is dirty job, but the objectives are being achieved the collateral benefits are huge; the freedom of Iraqis from terror of stitching of mouths is a very big issues.

Local insurgencies and North Vietnam type résistance are two different things, here we are opening a dialogue with the soul of Islam they need a jolt to understand that it is not going to be beheading of poor westerner through which they can progress it has to be a cohabitate existence, just today the man who photographed Pearl before he was beheaded in cold blood has been arrested with two of his accomplices, the entire network of these terrorist who planned Indian parliament attacks are now arrested, now this is the result of proactive US policy in this region, the insular instinct displayed by US had left this entire region in the hands of people who want tyranny and isolation of the region at any cost, Saddam represented the core of that tyranny and core of the evil that resisted change in the region.

The war on terror is going on all fronts in North Waziristan, in Yemen, cowing of mother of all Gaddafi and the reason is the active involvement of USA in region where these upheavals were being planted, Iraq past on terror has been quite good they have only been terrorists against their own nationals however their integral position warranted a huge change, yes certain elements are not within parameters of the plan but the global change that has permeated is visible to me very clear, the ability of lok Jirga in Afghanistan to agree on a constitution and agreement of Iraqi constitution are first work towards establishment of a free democratic societies in these two countries, these two countries had seen only war and ruthless aggression for last three decades in a year plus two we are seeing girls attending schools in a Kabul, Baghdad inundated with dissent voice and publications, now to pick up only worst and play it as a huge set back is the art that some practice very deviously, I think good outweighs evil and change could not have come without heavy handed stick carrying ability of the Yanks, we would have seen today ladneism running the entire region.

You know that people who attacked Indian parliament and were about to create a nuclear war between the tow nation are now the most wanted people, the dilly dallying policy that resulted into mushrooming of these cancers is now replaced, Muslims, need an Islam different from the lifeless, anti-modern, anti-Western fundamentalism being propagated by the Wahhabi . This understanding is the necessary condition for preventing the brewing crisis between Islam and the West — which was triggered by 9/11 — from turning into a war of civilizations. The events now are preventing that the new alliance against terrorism constitutes of nations who have stakes in the future of the country, Saddam and his Baath tormentors would have made sure that they continue the destabilization process it is for this reason that Ghaddafis came on table after we caught Saddam like a rat. The region as whole is becoming far better, the global view definitely helps minor setback, and some battles are lost but war is being won.

Friedman said a nice thing that ''To put it another way, what's going on in Iran today is precisely the war of ideas within Islam that is the most important war of all. We can kill Osama bin Laden and all his acolytes, but others will spring up in their place. The only ones who can delegitimize and root out these forces in any sustained way are Muslim societies themselves. And that will happen only when more Muslim societies undergo, from within, their own struggle for democracy and religious reform. Only the disenchanted citizens of the Soviet bloc could kill Marx; only Muslims fed up that their faith is being dominated by anti-modernists can kill bin Ladenism and its offshoots.''

Iraq and Afghnistan and Pakistna are going through these experiences with greatest of success.I cna testify htat sitting here in the heart of hinterland Pakistan.

He also predicted the U.S. would *never* invade Iraq.
