bin Laden is very efficient. He probably used a few million dollars to train, support and ready the 19 hijackers. Those attacks have caused billions of dollars in damage alone, and 3,000 innocents and 700 troops dead.

But more than that he caused the United States to spend upwards of $300 billion in military and preventative actions.

I dare say that the preventative measures taken simply move him to another mode of attack. He probably won't consider airlines in that same manner...too hot right now. But there were reports of a cargo jet, or a jet from another country.

On 9-11-01 the attacks shut down the country. That alone cost billions of dollars. The Markets shut down and then there was an almost predictable sell off.

Consider if bin Laden could somehow perform a series of attacks it could cripple this country. Chaos could reign in the streets. The US would probably spend billions more plugging security holes. Billions more lost as the country shuts down. The scenario is all too possible given our porous borders and our lax visa system.

Just how many attacks could the country take before a complete economic shut down takes place? We start printing more money to cover the cost. Inflation takes off. Roads and ports may be shut down.

This is one of the main reasons why I'm so puzzled at the invasion in Iraq. bin Laden is still on the loose. He will order another attack, one that they have had years to plan. The cells are already operating here in the US one would imagine. So while we should have been declaring a world wide war on Al Qaeda and further protecting the homeland from attacks and beefing up intelligence capability we squander treasure and effort in Iraq.

When will Bush wake up and see that the real enemy is Al Qaeda and bin Laden? All he has done is piss off more Muslims with this misadventure to Iraq.

Timing is everything, and Bush has no sense of it. bin Laden is a master of timing.
