Yep, we have the 68 day variety to munch on the 4th of July and the 88 day corn which is really super. Keep those interlopers out where they belong. Good corn, yum.

In Mt Vernon, IL (crossroads of I-57 & I-64) thry used to have a "Sweetcorn & Watermelon Festival" in the summer. They had an old steam caliope and had a regular country hoedown. I don't know if it still happens. I haven't been there since 1977 and it was only a couple of years old then. Nothing else like FRESH corn on the cob, steam pressure cooked, dripping in butter with garlic salt and fresh ground black pepper. Makes one forget what a dismal town it is the rest of the year.
