John , we got the same bs coming up in australia elections. front runner is saying he will take troops out. Then we got Kerry in the States who is running and says let the united nations run Iraq and even perhaps our military.

ersonally, I feel the actions of the new Spanish president are totally irresponsible, his demands were totally unacceptable, and he knew it going in, which is why he is pulling the troops out immediately. I suspect the Spanish people will come to find out they made a major error electing this clown as President. Time will tell. jdn

First of all, he ran on the promise that if elected he would pull the Spanish troops out of Iraq. That's why he was elected. Nearly ninty percent of the Spaniards are opposed to the war.

Secondly, the only condition that would permit him to keep Spain's troops in Iraq was that the UN take over. I don't consider that to be an unreasonable demand. However, the UN has made it pretty clear they won't take a lead position in Iraq. Consequently, Spain's PM had no choice but to pull his troops.

Bush I built a true coalition when fighting Iraq in 1991. Bush II did not.........we are now seeing the fruits of his failure to do so.
