Since when gold and politics are not holding each other hand? Deficits don't count any more, raising CPI is a reason to unload gold, nonpayable debts are bearish for gold, since the banks will be showered with new electronic impulses from Greenspan to bail them out. But the wars which are extension of politics, massive buying of weapons by the biggest Muslim state of the world, fighting ghost in the desert and mountains, possible WMD explosion in UK or US will affect the POG. Some will take the opportunity to sell others to buy. Can you imagine Saudi Arabia falling into extremists hands, which by all accounts is closer than most of us think. That's politics, even if oil will cost $100 a barrel, well we are going by the numbers excluding food and energy because they are not essential in everyday life. COT and others technical things like supply and demand can and will change as fast as electronic impulse go through the fiber optic if anything drastic happen which the rulers didn't take into account. Events which are beyond control which are part of politics as well can only shake up the cartel which is controlling the price.
