It would be interesting to read a history of the Japan Fund. Didn't it get started because foreigners were not allowed to own Japanese stocks directly? And I wonder what the history of the premium was. I never did own it because by the time I began to invest it seemed clearly overpriced.

All I can find out about it is that it started in 1962 as a closed end fund and now it seems to be open end. I guess Inever did follow it very closely.
