Yes, that is what the movement was about,
but it does not necessarily follow that everything in those letters was literal and not an outreach program.

Still, you are correct that I should seek better sources. My problem is that I did not encounter this on the internet to begin with, so it will be a matter of searching without knowing the likely spots.
