Really? That's sad. I think he's at the point where people need to make an effort to see him, at least once. Just like "I saw Ruth".
Well, I've seen him a lot on the tube, but I left a note at work last night to a friend which said "Dammit, BB is the best player I have never seen. Get me tickets, too".

The guy is effing amazing. He's getting a bit more analytical coverage the last few weeks. I really hadn't thought about it, but they are right. Sometimes guys get in the zone for a bit; maybe even three weeks, and it is really fun to watch. Bonds has been in that zone for (take yer pick) his career, his l0 years in SF, whatever. I've been zoning on him for at least 5 years, and he sure has in that period. If it's there he does something with it. Amazing OB and Slg. percentages. Got an IW once with the bases loaded; now that is respect.
He is really patient. With all the pressures of the numbers, and all the walks, he's never really gone after bad pitches. Look at the sluggers; Ruth, Mantle, Mac, Klu,...;lots of K's. I don't know BB's #, but they are pretty good. He has 13 BB, 6 of which are IW, in 12 games. They didn't walk him yesterday; 4-4, 5 RBI, double and l2 HR. I know he won't hit .500 for the rest of the season, but he may end up bringing his lifetime to.300; I think it was about .298. (+ 500SB). And yet, on the news last night, he was hanging his head, and muttering "One guy can't carry a team. Never been done, never will"

We'll never again see his like in our lifetime, altho Sosa could catch him in career HR, being younger.

A19,

Your Red Sox pulled out the final game of the Yankee series today. 3 out of 4 ain't bad, especially with Kevin Brown starting today.

It always amazes me how regionally biased the Boston
papers are. Bonds is essentially a non entity - guy who
took steroids and is a pretender to to Willy's crown.

Yeah they have been saying similar stuff here in NY.

One writer mentioned how many people keep saying things
like, "Steroids don't help you hit the ball", or "Steroids
don't improve your reflexes", or "Roids don't give you
better vision" etc.

Then he asked a simple question...

If Steroids don't seem to help him improve his hitting,
then why the heck is he still taking them?

Is it because he likes the way his new basketball sized
head looks on him?
