Thousands of Iraqis were already dying, directly or indirectly, due to Saddam Hussein. Thousands of Americans were likely to die if Saddam handed off a gas like ricin or a weaponized strain of anthrax to terrorists. In the total scheme of things, this intervention is not very costly, to ourselves nor to our antagonists, and its collateral benefits, like the pacification of Qaddafi, are of inestimable benefit........
