Horgad, Actually, they audit long after filing date, so I doubt that's correct.

The auditing is based on a computer program that gives scores to each return based on multiple factors. The program is changed every ten years or so in order to accomodate new developments.

There are some returns picked for audit randomly just to keep everyone honest.
