Expected hybrids for 2005, some of which are anticipated to be available for sale by the end of the summer, include the Toyota Highlander, Ford Escape and Saturn VUE. General Motors is also expected to release hybrid versions of its big GMC and Chevrolet pickups to fleet customers late this year.

By 2007, Nissan's Altima will be available as a hybrid. So will the Honda Accord and Pilot, as well as the Toyota Camry, Mercury Mariner and selected vehicles in the Daimler-Chrysler line, including a few Mercedes models.
