That's a Republican thing! ***************************************************** White Lies, Black Lies by Larry S. Rolirad www.dissidentvoice.org April 20, 2004 President Clinton told a "white lie" to spare his family the humiliation of learning about his private sexual affair with another consenting adult. Clinton's lie did not rise to the level of a high crime against the United States. No one was harmed except for the embarrassment felt by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. And no one was killed. Contrast President Clinton's frivolous white lie to the string of black lies that have told by President Bush and other people in his administration for the past three years. A year ago, Bush used lies to try to justify his preemptive war against another sovereign country, Iraq. Powell, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice and a host of other members of the Bush regime deliberately lied to go to war. Their black lies were not frivolous as Clinton's lie was. The lies that the Republicans told led to the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans. And their lies led to the deaths of 700 of our troops, so far. Bush, Powell, Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Rice all told lies that lead to death, destruction and world instability. And for every innocent Afghan or Iraqi they kill will spawn a hundred or a thousand potential terrorists against the United States. Bush's acts during the past three years have increased the numbers of terrorists, not reduced their numbers. So why aren't republicans screaming at the top of their lungs as they did when Clinton told his 'white lie'? It is obvious that republicans have different standards for Democrats and Republicans. It is probably because Republicans are still embracing President Ronald Reagan's "Eleventh Commandment". To those who are unaware, the republican "Eleventh Commandment" states that no Republican shall speak ill of another Republican'. To withhold your condemnation of culprits in one's own party is an admission that such a person is not capable of accepting responsibility or accountability. Now that Bob Woodward has published a book, Plan of Attack, surrounding the events that led to the Iraq war it is obvious that Republicans used any means they could to go to war against another sovereign country with an intent to overthrow its government. In an April 18, 2004 interview on 60 Minutes, Bob Woodward, who brought down one president already, President Nixon, has just laid out a case for the removal of GW Bush. In the 45-minute interview between 60 Minutes' correspondent Mike Wallace and Mr. Woodward, there were revelations that should spell doom for the entire Bush regime, and especially Bush, whose very sanity must now be questioned. Here are the main points brought forth in Mr. Woodward's 60 Minutes interview: * Bush told a family friend in the Saudi royal family and the Saudi ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, of his intentions to go to war against Iraq. In exchange for Bush sending US to war with Iraq, Prince Bandar bin Sultan Saudi said that he could order an increase in the production of Saudi oil which would lower gas prices in the United States just before our November elections to help propel Bush back into office. This is a definite quid-pro-quo arrangement. Bush's "deal" with a foreign country to provide cheap gas prior to the election is a criminal and impeachable act. Lastly, this Saudi was told about the war against Iraq even before Secretary of State Powell was. This shows how corrupt the Bush regime actually is and how unresponsive they are to the people in which they are supposed to be serving, the American citizens. * Bush failed to include almost all of his cabinet in his plans for war. He especially snubbed Secretary of State Colin Powell. The people in the Bush regime who were clamoring for war with Iraq were Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, and GW Bush. The Saudi prince, Bandar bin Sultan, who had no business knowing what war plans the US was planning was also 'in the loop' as confirmed by President Bush in Mr. Woodward's book. * Bush used funneled money, targeted and approved by congress for Afghanistan, to fund the war against Iraq without any notification to congress. This act by Bush is also unconstitutional and an impeachable offense. Bush cannot constitutionally unilaterally declare war single-handedly against another sovereign country using funds targeted by Congress to fight another war. This is reminiscent of President Nixon's secret, and illegal wars against Cambodia and Laos during the Vietnam War. * When Bush was asked what will history judge him on the war against Iraq he said he didn't care because "we would all be dead". Bush's words sounded like he was looking forward to Armageddon. Bush has frequently used apocalyptic words like "crusade", "axis of evil", or "mission from God' in his speeches to appease the religious right fanatics like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson who are actively preaching to their flocks of fools that the end of the world is near. Bush's words have inflamed and alarmed the entire Muslim world deliberately to create more terrorists and to generate more division between the Christian and Muslim worlds. It is ironic that someone who professes to be 'born again' is acting in ways that could kill millions. I wonder what "God" would think about someone who supposedly is a "Christian" is so hell-bent on killing thousands or millions of human beings. I must have missed that chapter in the New Testament in the Bible. dissidentvoice.org
