I remember being in the Keys when I was a kid. Every dock had a rack full of hanging dead Tarpon that were tossed in the water the next morning. Really a waste.

Limbaugh Raises Record Million $-plus for Leukemia Fight

Top radio talk host Rush Limbaugh thanked his audience on Monday for donating a record-breaking million dollars-plus during his broadcast on Friday for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society radio Cure-A-Thon.

"We set a record," Limbaugh said. "We raised over a million dollars in three hours."

Noting that his Friday program did not feature "wall-to-wall" solicitations for the charity, the top talker said the rush to donate was so heavy among his listeners that they shut down the servers at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society web site.

The exact figure for the amount raised was not available, Limbaugh said, because contributions were being processed and are "still rolling in."

"You really don't know what a positive impact you've made on any number of people that you may run into or encounter in your daily lives," he told his audience. "I can assure you that if you use this as a measure, there were tears of joy and sincerity as these numbers added up and rolled in and from the moment they started happening on Friday afternoon when we started this."
