21. Jesus pointed to his actions to show that he was the Messiah.

Ankerberg: Explain why Jesus didn’t use the word Messiah but still was making noises that He was the Messiah.

Evans: Well, it would have been highly presumptuous for Jesus or for anyone to go around saying, quote: "I am the Messiah." That would be considered presumptuous, borderline blasphemous. And that’s why when John’s friends asked Jesus, "Are you the one who is to come?" Jesus has to answer, "Go back and tell him what you see and hear." Draw your own conclusion. And the way He summarizes His ministry in terms of the blind regaining sight and the dead being raised up clearly implies, "Of course, I’m the Messiah," but you have to draw that conclusion for yourself.
