You're giving him far too much credit with your "well-meaning" comment.

"Well-meaning" from his point of view, that is.

Since Elgindy traveled to Scott Helveston's funeral with his family, it would be interesting to find out whether the entire family also used aliases. If not, I suppose it blows a hole in the "he did it to hide his Muslim name" theory.
