Hi Taikun,
The MCO was bought by my daughter. I personally strive to avoid any investment in the US. They could have hired Iran to topple Sadaam with zero US casualties, giving them air support. Naturally all Iranians hate Sadaam, more than Bush does. The administration doesn't care that much about Al Qaeda; the latter helps Bush's ratings. Any Palestinian fighting Zionist occupiers is automatically labelled a terrorist. I favor reversing the UN decision to create the state of Israel and instead welcome Israeli citizens to emigrate to western countries. Arabs were the overwhelming majority in the area of Palestine for 17 centuries or so.
Buffett is mostly invested in the US. So I couldn't consider buying his shares at this point in history. If Bush doesn't do well in Iraq he may shift targets to Syria, Iran, North Korea, who knows where? Unfortunately there's no shortage of genuinely bad guys in those countries and lots of other countries.
I take refuge in oil stocks, particularly Canadian oil trusts, real estate stocks in Europe and Canadian REITS, gold and a few Hong Kong listed H shares of Chinese companies. Those are refuge positions because it's ingrained in me not to trust paper money, so unlike Jay, I don't hold a large fraction of assets in cash.
Lots of luck to you. Having children, dependents for at least a couple of decades, does change the outlook.
