[It's always fun to bluntly say to somebody that they are wrong, leaving aside tact and all that]. People have changed. Even in the past century. Check out the Flynn Effect for a start. Google can get you heaps on that. It's a world-wide raising of IQ. I think the process works on the same principle that we are all above average as drivers, if you ask each of us about our driving ability [above, below, or average? = we answer above]. We all think we are better than average in many ways. I suspect that's also the case with intelligence, or at least we over-rate our intelligence. So we think we are smarter than we are. I suppose it's something to do with ego. A result of that is that everyone wants to marry [or mate with, which is more common these days] somebody who is as intelligent as they are. Which means they get somebody smarter. Which means a LOT of people don't get anyone, which is contrary to the theory that the unintelligent are actually the breeders. Women particularly rate intelligence in men as an attractive attribute, along with kindness and a few other things. So, there is constant pressure to be smart and women are rejecting those they see as below their expectations. They'd rather not reproduce that let an absolute moron pollute their DNA with their twisted pair. Therefore, human intelligence has increased. I think that process has been going for a LOT longer than a century. I'd guess it has been going since we lost our tails and stopped walking on our knuckles. Imagine trying to get a girl if you constantly forgot yourself and dropped down on your knuckles. Lower back pain is a consequence for many people of the attempt to remain upright, on two legs. They should stop trying to impress the girls and just get down on their knuckles to move around. Then, there is the environmental effect that people are living a LOT longer, thanks to the demise of many diseases and nutritional deficiencies, not to mention few wars and other problems. Older people are different from younger. That changes the way the community is run. Having a world of young males rampaging around, with gonads instead of brains, is a different world from having hordes of Yoda-like older and wiser people. Plus, there are other genetic differences. Such as people are taller than 2000 years ago, which is also because women like taller males, other things being equal. So aircraft that Jesus, Caesar and Confucius traveled on would have had less headroom, so they probably had two-storey aircraft. To have two-storey aircraft now, we have to make them really big. Which they are in the process of doing. Plus, we have a LOT more information at our fingertips. Literally. Plus, we can communicate from me to you, instantly [if you are awake]. Plus we can see everywhere, instantly, with CDMA2000 phragmented photon cyberphones with megapixel video cameras built in. We can know everything too - just ask Google. The human race is a very different place DJ! So, you can see, you were wrong. But now, enlightened, you are right! Isn't cyberspace great? In a couple of minutes, the synapses flicker and consciousness is raised. Mqurice
