Russ,

RE: "Easy is way behind the curve, too much time spent in the Land of Oz: now it's reality time"

This economics textbook that I am reading (co-authored by Bernanke) is quite interesting. Chapter 12 is "Unemployment and Inflation" - I haven't read the entire chapter yet, but it appears as if classical economic theory, as espoused by this book - links the two. A direct quote: "Moreover, there is a long-standing idea in macroeconomics that unemployment and inflation are somehow related."

This may explain, at least in part, why the economists don't think inflation is an issue right now...

Any PHD economists on the thread?
