I think you guys have stepped over the line here. The "words" that upset the market were mentioned in the Q&A. They were unprepared. I think Greenspan "slipped" a bit in saying what he did. Everyone is reading too much into this.

To say that Japan, Europe, or SA are forcing him to push the dollar up or some kind of bond deal is a bit on the Far Side (remember those comics?). He would have mentioned something more worthy in the prepared speech instead.

In any case, I watch the FX and net effect on the USD against the EUR and JPY is neglible and noise. So if you are correct in your deduction, then Greenspan failed. So you'd better get ready for the backup plan.
