The US certainly does have a nasty habit of doing just that.

while supporting dictators like the Shah. Saddam, or Al Quieda, or the Saudi's.

If we find it advantageous, that's exactly what we do. When we find it more advantageous to turn on 'em, then that's what we do. And when they're of no more political use to us, we then destroy 'em. Latest being Saddam.

Talk about a hypocritical country. One day we're selling all kinds of WMD to 'em, the next day we turn right around and call 'em evil dictators out to destroy the world with their WMD. One day you have people like Cheney shaking hands with Saddam and essentially saying "nice doing business with you partner". Next day Cheney is telling Junior to attack Iraq because they have WMD I (Cheney) knew about back in the 80's because I was part of it all.

Doesn't get much more corrupt than that.
