Didn't Kerry (or his advisors) understand that all the hoo-ha about Bush's service records would come back and bite them in the butt??

Kerry's refusal to release his military records raises the obvious question: Why? I am a civilian, and completely unfamiliar with what such records might disclose that could be so damaging to a highly decorated veteran, so I'll throw the question to the audience today. I can guess why Theresa Heinz Kerry doesn't want to release her tax returns --the combination of huge wealth and support for wacky left wing causes. But Kerry's stonewalling is indicative of a major problem.

Kerry folded. His campaign is busy scanning every piece of paper they say they have received from the Navy and will post all of it. Now we have to see what the meaning of "all" is, and also wait for the analysis that will be forthcoming from trained eyes used to reading military files. Should be an interesting news cycle.

Here's a link to the partial release of Kerry's military file. (Hat tip: Smash) Where are the dental records?

UPDATE: Periods of 10 days (3/11/67 to 3/21/67), two months (4/15/67 to 6/7/68) and three+ months (7/21/68 to 11/8/68) are missing from the fitness reports made available by Kerry. There are no fitness reports for the service following 7/31/69. Under the standard applied to Bush, Kerry was AWOL four times. I will leave it to the military pros to assess whatever significance, if any, there are to these gaps.
