Atrocities were very wide-spread in Nam. Not just the Lt. Calley kind but the missions themselves. The CIA assassination missions, the LURPS and SEALS playing hunter-killer. It was very intense and drove many men to madness. It was not at all unusual to have necklaces of enemy ears etc. up in the bush. The brass back in Saigon didn't understand. Going up into that jungle was hell and the men who fought there often killed anything that moved, including innocent bystanders.

Kerry did apologize for his language, but the attacks on him as being anti-soldier are 100% false and mendacious. Kerry has fought his entire career for soldiers and vets.
