The point is that war is nasty business and innocent people get killed. You don't enter into a war unless it is absolutely necessary and have exhausted all other possibilities. WWII was in that category as Hitler had taken over several countries and had all intentions of continuing with further atrocities of his own.

In Iraq, war could have been avoided.
