Like I said, I can only pray and hope it is fantasy of my riot brain. But from the modern history please do read carefully the history of Third Reich. From the ancient history read about who and why set the Rome on fire, what was the political consequences of the ancient and modern fires? If you think that the morale of present rulers change a bit from the past ones see the psychologist. You might say the world changed, people changed, well look at Rwanda, Balkans, look at the freedoms US lost already, powers given to the security forces. Orwell didn't even imagine some of mechanisms to control the citizens, please show me where more freedom was introduced upon US citizens in the past ten years except special interest groups. By all means I should be happy with Bush as I made small fortune trading gold during his cadency, but his, Blair and Sharon dirty politics, total disregard to the rest of the world shows me that the course is already set. Outcome unknown, and don't even try to predict it, as no one can predict his next day or hour. We can only assume and hope for the best.
