President Bush has been emboldened to "move the envelope" out of reach of the old Oslo platitudes, and openly endorse Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's efforts to build a security barrier around the West Bank (to match the one already around Gaza), and even retain possession of proximate Israeli settlements on the non-Israeli side of the old "Green Line".

And David Warren and I would agree... Were those settlements "proximate to the green line"..

I have no problem doing that.. Israel wants security "adjustments" that resolve the "bulge" the West Bank makes in Israeli borders... THAT'S FINE!!

But those settlement blocs Sharon declared DO NOT PROXIMATE THE GREEN LINE..

Hebron does not proximate the green line...

And Ariel certainly doesn't... In fact, it's a "finger" jutting into the West Bank that would be very difficult to control and defend.

Now show me how that map of settlements corresponds with with David Warren is arguing?

And show me how it will "enhance" Israeli security, rather than be a detriment to it?

Connect those dots, Nadine...
