I like Kerry's views on Iraq, particularly the fact that he understands that the events that preceded the invasion (and led to his voting for the war) changed over time and resulted in his stand against increasing monies toward it. Kerry, like me, and probably many citizens, was for the invasion of Iraq when we were told by Powell that the US had WMD's in Jan/Feb of 2003. Over the past fourteen months, more facts about WMD's have been made public and the occupation has not gone as we were led to believe. Citizens like me, like Kerry, have gradually withdrawn our support in the face of those facts.

I think that, as a politician just a couple of months into being the Democratic candidate, Kerry deserves the time and research necessary to develop and articulate his positions on issues such as jobs, the economy, education, and our role in the world. I'm beginning to see him articulate these things and have confidence, given the story in today's NY Times, that more is forthcoming soon.

(And before the GWB thread yahoos inundate me with epithets and dismissals, don't you think it's refreshing to have a respectful political discussion between two people who disagree? )

Thanks, BE.
