rrufff, What would be really good, is if every one that believes in a deity that is very similar to who we call God, would unite in harmony to face the demons of atheism, paganism, and terrorism. Most of the religious tomes I have read, give a description of a deity that is so similar to God, that I feel He is the same deity, but with the advancement of different peoples, their name for Him being different, and some of the dogma that creates anger, and hate for those that do not use that same name, has raised it's ugly head to cause schisms among true believers. As a united force for the good of God, we could be an influential body of citizens of the world, that could contribute to peace on Earth.

To me, this thread is a special place to come where I state my beliefs and opinions because I do not do so in my work in the field of Alcoholism and Codependency. For instance, I would never tell a person or family who is attempting to overcome addictions that they should believe in any religion. I only stress that they find a power greater than themselves who can help them to have strength to begin recovery. I have found that when they begin to recover that they again join the church and become practicing Christians.

Misunderstandings caused by well meaning church members often cause guilt and slips from following a recovery program and truthfully religion does not have an answer to substance abuse.

I know in my heart that God Jehova will lead them into a relationship with him if it is his will but they are like small children in spirituality and my job is to cause them to look outward for recovery instead of fighting it themselves.

I have no desire to change your beliefs. As I say I come here to let it all hang out and I realize that tempers often do explode, me included. But it is like a relief valve to come here and discuss or cuss, whatever the case may be.

I do hope that we all can contain ourselves to the point that we forego the "seig heils" and attacking personalities but instead talk about principles.
