Oh, one more bit or piece, is Ruy Texeira's (sp??) argument that Bush's latest gains in the two polls showing such were all in previously red states anyway and none were in swing states. I haven't taken a look at the argument so can't vouch for it.

The Bushies have spent their money in the swing states, and all the reports I read say that is where they have done their work. The key, or course, is "building negatives," and it looks like Bush has pulled a "Clinton" on Kerry in this regard. Bush is so well known that the only way to change his negatives is with events.

Kerry's advantage in this regard is that Bush's negatives are ingrained, while his can be changed easier.

We are going to have a big help in figuring the Senate races from the rise of "one issue blogs." There are four of these in South Dakota, they are anti-Daschle, and have influenced the election there. "Daschle vs Thune" is the one that is most active, and the best so far. daschlevthune.typepad.com
