One caveat. China can repeg to a basket instead of a float, but that takes time as well, to determine the correct mix, and to trade reserve in anticipation of repeg, so as to make some money through the exercise.

Warning, Yuan rising does not actually help China in buying commodities 'cheaper' when all issues are accounted for, because China cannot print money for purchase of resources. China has to work for the resources, given China currency is not a 'hard' currency accepted the world over.
