100 billion in iraq spending is left off the military budget so military is more like 500 billion. Other developed countries survive without military operations especially those that stay away from the Bush warmongering disaster. As for HHS, I don't know if we can exist as a country without welfare for example, or child immunizations or things like that, just as public health issues. I am certain there is significant fat in there though. Maybe the best approach is to cut military by 2/3 and cut HHS by 2/3. We might as well just let iraq go down to anarchy because we can't control it anyway and our people are dying. Or put Saddam back in charge and get the hell out of there.
