I was discussing this with my son the other day, after the birth of his third child, and mentioned I was relived he was Honorably discharged from the Army and wouldn't have to go to Afganistan or Iraq.

He said he wasn't glad at all. He felt as though he was letting his unit down by not being there with them...

All of the thoughts of a mother raced through my head...but you served your country, you have a family to support, when you were in you weren't an officer, all of my arguments fell short when his little girl asked him, "Were you a soldier, Daddy?"

You got it! Pat Tillman deserves high praise for his sacrifice. But it must be expressed in a manner that the sacrifice of other GI Joes and Janes is not diminished. Judging from my readings today of Tillman, I suspect he would want equal attention given to his fellow Rangers and others who have fallen. God Bless America and its military!!!!

There are a lot of people who are proud to serve. Reinstating the draft has been suggested but I think the volunteer military works better.
