Jim - I hope you're right and perhaps the Hubbert's Peak crowd are a bunch of scare-mongers but after reading "The Party's Over" last summer I started to grow quite concerned. Also, Matthew Simmons is an investment banker who's client list includes dozens and dozens of companies in the O&G sector...he's not exactly Greenpeace material if ya know what I mean...and what he had to say made my hair curl:

simmonsco-intl.com

Maybe it will all work out.

Jim, as you say, the universe is made of energy. That's one thing we are NOT short of. The main thing we are short of, in my experience, is brain-power. I would trade 1000 barrels of oil for another kilogram of brain-power. Heck, I'd do it for 100 grams [of the right sort]. Or maybe even 10 grams. I don't know the exact value [I don't have the brain-power to figure it out, which is a circular problem I have, even if somebody makes me an offer].
