Steve D: Check out the link, more Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on a percentage basis than did Dems. And some of those Dems are still around today. IE: Gore and Bryd...

The difference between the two parties IMO has been the Democrat predilection for obtaining votes using confiscation money from the higher income groups and redistributing that confiscated money to those in the lower income group, socialism by any other name. Of course to make it more politically palatable for those receiving the confiscated money, a political spin was put in play and forced charity was deemed entitlement programs.
