Something which would only be harmful to a political career if the truth
came out.

Kerry's problem is the coverup. Both during the last 30 years, and the strong arming of the guys recently who were there.

Even though the NYT finally covered it, the story is laid out in a strange manner. It starts with Kerry/Kansas City, puts a bunch of other stuff in the middle, and then gives you the guts of what Kerry did at the end.

Why? So that it would be past the "jump." Most people never read the end because they have to open the paper and fold it back to it. This is "the power of the jump."

So the NYT still softballs Kerry.
