<His vision that through technology, we are all connected, and we can be thought of as a single entity >

He wasn't "mystic" enough, if he was he'd have known that we ARE all connected and thought of as a single entity... the internet probably just mirrors what is already there.

<Some people think Piere's vision and the Internet converge.>

Interesting that people think of them as separate to begin with.

<Mq sounds optimistic and is probably a closet mystic.>

Agreed... his body is in the closet with all it's innate wisdom and abilities... and his intellect is haunting the rest of the house assuming that it's the whole show. I may be wrong, but he seems to imply that people have [or are] evolving to sit in front of the computer and intellectualize, AND spend more and more time doing that.

<Similarly, when you predict the future, all you see is that we've used up all our natural resources, lowered our physical capbilities, and abandoned our tried and true ethics.>

I don't know about ethic's, but I agree with the rest.

<Quite naturally, in your forecast of the future, you see nothing but doom and gloom>

Actually I see the future brighter than ever... primarily because the realization by most people of your first [historical] point is upon us and huge changes will occur in the near future. This is very bright... unless you are attached to 'the old ways' that are on the way out... then the future could be painful I suppose. To some extent both will occur I suppose, as the population that continues to abuse their bodies poor health will continue to escalate, but for those willing to go with nature and enjoy the ride, the future set them free.

<n all, I think Mq's vision (though quirky and at times appear to be cynical) is much more optimistic and far likelier to be.>

Well, if by "Mq's vision" you mean continued increased portion of time sitting on butt cruising the web for a living, enjoyment, sport, etc. etc. then although it may be "likelier to be" in the near term, in the long term that will simply increase the load on our healthcare system as the population continues to atrophy. If you man a more efficient electronic connectedness that may actually LESSEN the time people sit on their asses in front of the computer and increase for people to spend in nature, and each other, then I also agree. I'm not exactly what Mq's total picture is, but where I differ is his assertion that the future of humans is separate from their bodies, and from nature [which he implies often, most recently in his opinion of evolution].

>>Mq is sort of a quirky modern day Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, minus the Jesuit Theology.<< Huh?! He's more of a "brime-and-fire-and-CDMA"-kind of Jimmy Swaggart... Or Out-of-Africa-Eve (in G3 drag)
