Japanese Return to More Pain

I didn't post or comment on this version, as I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have read that these were anti-war activists who went there to cause trouble. The kidnapping was staged, according to these reports. TWT.

If you recall, when these Japanese people were "taken hostage" I posted that bloggers in Japan were posting that it was all a setup, that they were anti-War activists who were cooperating with Iraqis by "faking" their capture so they could blackmail the Japanese into withdrawing from Iraq.

Then later I posted followup news stories that had support that this was true for at least one, maybe two, of the "hostages."

Funny that the NY Times doesn't mention this as a reason for the Japanese people and government being down on the so-called "hostages." They seem to suggest that it's just something weird about the Japanese personality.

Doesn't seem weird at all to me. Very understandable. Hopefully anybody would react that way.

Edit: I see you and Lindy talked about this.

Thanks for posting the story on the Japanese hostages. That was fascinating.

I can see both sides easily. It's a question of one's hierarchy of values--what trumps what.
