For such a small minority, Jews have contributed proportionately more to the world, in the arts and sciences, than any other group. The fact that a Jewish democracy has survived, although it was surrounded and attacked many times by hostile, brutal Arab dictatorships, is a source of pride for Jews. Unfortunately, it is also a source of embarrassment for the uncivilized and backward Arab cultures.
