Really?

I'd like to see where that is stated in the Koran. Do you have a reference?

That is completely false. As a matter of fact any Arab that took care of a mare received special indulgences.

Due in part to the religious significance attached to the Arabian horse, as well as the contribution it made to the wealth and security of the tribe, the breed flourished in near isolation. Traditions of breeding and purity were established to keep the breed "Asil" or pure, in the form intended by Allah. Any mixture of foreign blood from the mountains or the cities surrounding the desert was strictly forbidden. While other, desert type breeds developed in North Africa and the periphery of the Great Desert, these "Barbs" and "Turks" were definitely not of the same blood as Arabians and were disdained by the proud Bedouin.

In general the Islamic treatment of creatures (God's creations) is one of compassion. The Islamic view is that as human beings we have responibility for the well being of every creature within our sphere of influence. Animals, plants, other human beings and the healthy conditions of the Earth, all have rights over me and I have the responsibility to care for their well being.

I am not speaking for the behavior or views of individual Arab leaders or of uneducated or agendized members of political groups (which I grant is quite corrupt) but simply the doctrine of the Quran and Islamic perspective.

Although human disagreements over what is a just course of action may lead to acts of violent war, Islam has conditions for how a Muslim is to proceed. Innocent humans cannot be targeted as an act of war. So, terrorism is a violation, or killing hostages. The corrupt get around this by declaring anyone supportive of their enemy a military collaborator... When Saddam spilled oil in the Persian Gulf to polute it for the Iraqis, he clearly was sinning against his soul.

I hope this helps clear things up. Not that Middle Eastern govts or groups are likely to model the right form of Islam for us, unfortunately.
