Good article!!

One of Kerry's strong points with me is the fact that he dared stand up against the war back in the early 70's. And he protested as a person who had fully participated in it's ravages as a soldier.

For a young man to stand up in front of a Congressional Committee and take a stand against a war that Congress was advocating shows some strong character. Let's face it he had some guts!!

He also made a snap decision out on the river to risk his own life to save others. He didn't have to do it and he made that decision in the heat of battle. That also shows bravery and a propensity to value the lives of others in relation to his own. He didn't have time to think about his actions and figure out his tactics........he acted quickly to save lives and risked his own in the process. He definitely had some courage while under fire. That is bare bones character in the raw without window dressing or spin.

Whether you agree with him or not that the Vietnam war was immoral and pointless, how can you not honor that kind of courage? It would have been a lot easier for him to go home and forget about it. He probably helped to save thousands of lives.

We need that kind of leadership right now. We need someone with intestinal fortitude. In fact, he is still trying to do the "right" thing now by not attacking the President too strongly as we are at war..............I think we may have stumbled on a man of honor!!

I'll admit I was luke warm on him at first but I like him more as I get to know him better. Dean was my favorite because he was the only one that didn't support the Iraq war. I thought he had courage to stand up against it. It was harder for a Senator to go against the president as this country seems to like conformity from Congress during wars. I don't agree with it but the tradition is strong.
