"Vietnam is one of those "Rashomon" events that allows all Male Answer Syndrome sufferers to "Save Face". No matter what they say, nobody can actually prove them wrong."

Is that philosophy or psychology, or is it both?

If it's philosophy, I wonder what "opinions" are susceptible to being proven "wrong?"

If it's psychology then I'd guess that we're all guilty of buttressing our opinions with arguments in order to "save face."

Unless, that is, you think that all you have to do is say it and that makes it right.

Hi CobaltBlue; Re: "Vietnam is one of those "Rashomon" events that allows all Male Answer Syndrome sufferers to "Save Face". No matter what they say, nobody can actually prove them wrong."

Nothing but time.

Have you noticed that the war is now 1 year on and we're losing troops faster than we did in the first 6 weeks? Still think it was a brilliant idea? Well executed? Still believe in WMDs?

Of course no one can prove you wrong, LOL.
