sc, where do you live - Toronto? There was a good article in a Canadien paper this last Friday that I read. I forget the fellows name. He is predicting recession and very small chance of rate hikes in the near future, w/r to US. I agreed with most every word he had to say.

Spotted.Cat, I really respect Russell. He has great balance and impressive long-term track record. Russell's comments regarding the synthetic shorts against the dollar have sparked much debate here at SI. I have given this topic consideration and have not reached any conclusions; unfortunately only more questions. I think its impossible to predict today what gold will do in this environment, so I'm just waiting until there is more information. Russell really gets me thinking some times, and that may be his greatest value. If he ever comes to the Detroit area (or within 300 miles) I like to hear him speak. I will consider joining I-Hub.
