I caught a few minutes of Sen Schumer on one of the
week-end talk shows expressing a similar sentiment ..
He felt that the Kurds would want/could handle
some form of democratic government in the north ..
He also said that the Turks wouldn't like it but to quote him .. "tough rocks .. just deal with it" <g>

I just don't get the impression that we are steering
events in any particular direction nor convincing the
various players to peaceably engage in the process ..

On another note, scenes yesterday of iraqi teenagers kicking around an americans helmet. These people arent worth one ounce of american blood.
