There's apparently a tape from 1971 interview.

Drudge is a serial liar who would be fired from any media company ASAP for lying and fabricating stories. Because he runs his own little service, no one can fire him. Maybe in the past he told the truth a few times, but nowadays he is grossly abusing anyone who takes him seriously by getting them to repeat slanderous lies. His links are meaningless. Anyone can have links. They don't support credibility at all.

You ought to rent the movie SHATTERED GLASS and see what happens to a new organization when a report fabricates stories. Drudge found a way around that, become his own boss. It is one of the dark sides of the internet. A con artist can attain semi-legitimacy just by being well-known. And the major media outlets which spend so much time fact-checking and fighting to confirm every source as 100% credible are mocked in the process. A-hole cheaters like Drudge threaten our very freedom of the press. The rightwing has to stop believing it's OK to try to win by lying and cheating. They are harming our entire system and more than they know. There really ought to be laws.
