phil,

You remind me of this quip from Samuel Goldwyn, the nonpareil movie mogul:

"It is treacherous to make predictions -- particularly about the future."

***
The fiat money system is fraught with peril. In my view, what will finally wreck the dollar is a total revulsion by the world when the moron George Bush and the insanely devious Ariel Sharon start tossing nucular bombs around the Middle East. That will unite the world in a revulsion which the rest-of-the-world cannot match with munitions, but which can be fought on an economic basis and the U.S. can be brought to ruin thereby.

The U.S. is in a very perilous position, economically speaking. The U.S economy is vulnerable to blackmail by the foreign interests who are supplying the cash to keep this wicked game afloat. While the wastefulness and wanton gluttony of the American public may not have up to now been enough for the rest of the world to become utterly repulsed by the over-the-top arrogance of America, a few million murders might get them to come to their senses and begin the road to Nuremberg II by bringing the Goliath to its knees by means of cracking the dollar.
