I can't exactly detail the exclusive rights that SIT has with Uni-Solar, but I was told that SIT is the only company that been so aggressive in pursing this as a business. They have dumped a ton of money into the marketing and development of their roofing product. And while 5 megs a year may protect some exclusive rights that number has been seen as a joke. Solar Integrated Technologies and Sarnafil Inc. Announce Supply Agreement Sarnafil to be the exclusive supplier of membrane for North American Market Los Angeles, CA, April 23, 2004 – Solar Integrated Technologies (SIT), an innovator in solar electric roofing technology, and Sarnafil Inc., a worldwide leading manufacturer of high quality thermoplastic roofing and waterproofing systems, announce the completion of a North American supply agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Sarnafil Inc. will supply SIT with its high quality thermoplastic roofing membrane on an exclusive basis for the North American market. In addition, the two companies will cooperate in marketing the SIT SR2001 Solar Electric Roofing System. “The agreement with Sarnafil is an important strategic milestone for SIT,” said Ed Stevenson, CEO of Solar Integrated Technologies. “It extends our supply relationship with the worldwide leader in thermoplastic roofing membranes. Based on our evaluation of roofing materials, the Sarnafil vinyl roofing membrane was the best material to meet our stringent performance requirements for reflectivity and fire resistance and has the longest track record of proven performance.” SIT’s SR2001 System consists of twelve flexible photovoltaic modules, factory laminated by SIT to the Sarnafil EnergySmart Roof® membrane, forming a 10-foot by 40-foot flexible solar roof panel. During roof installation, the panels are hot-welded onto the new Sarnafil EnergySmart Roof and wired to the building’ electrical system. The result is a solar-electrical roofing system that protects the building’s interior from the elements while generating power for the building’s electricity needs. “We are very pleased to extend our relationship with SIT,” said Brian Whelan, president and CEO of Sarnafil Inc. “They are at the forefront of integrated solar roof design, a technology that has been attracting a lot of attention throughout North America. We are excited to supply the waterproofing membrane for SR2001 and to participate in bringing the product to the building owner and construction markets.” About Solar Integrated Technologies Solar Integrated Technologies is the developer and manufacturer of the world’s first flexible photovoltaic roof system for commercial and industrial applications.
