His first request was for a trade - not money. The deal he signed was done at a point where he wasn't the stud he is now. It was also done the year before he became an unrestricted FA. The point is he was happy to get the money early and it protected him in the event he had a career ending injury. It was a good deal for both sides. Now, after getting the security he also wants the big bucks that a FA would command. The worst part about this is MacKenzie had said nothing until a few weeks before the draft. Maybe we owe him a little more in pay but he owed us a LOT more than to pull a stunt like that.
