Maybe if we had gone in with 300,000 troops like the Pentagon wanted, blown away all opposition, confiscated all arms, blow up the thousands of ammunition dumps --- and then 'handed the keys' to somebody after we'd bagged Saddam, and gotten the hell out.

But it didn't happen that way --- Rummie wanted to go in on the cheap --- and now we are left with the situation as it is:
