Kerry went to Vietnam? Who knew? He's so modest about it and everything.

Typical vet. They served their country, but they don't like to brag about it. You'd never even know they served.

Like my dad. He was drafted for Korea, but the war ended before he was shipped overseas. He never even mentions it. Never, not once have I heard him mention it. I know because I was born in a Navy hospital in Norfolk, and my mom talks about that sometimes. Otherwise, nada from the old man. Zip.

'Course, for someone like Kerry, my dad's getting drafted out of college and moving to another part of the country, and getting prepared to go overseas, while providing logistical support for others who have already gone overseas, is worthy only of contempt. And my ancestors that served behind the lines in quartermaster corps are also contemptible because they weren't on the front line. Weird set of values, but hey, that's what makes this a great country, we're all different.
