I have a friend who is around 80+. He was in ww2. in the africa invasion. forgot the name of the book Johnm and you recommended. When mentioned to him he wanted to read it as he was in many of those battles. He remembers being about 19 years old and thinking of dying of thirst and starvation. for three days they were surrounded by the Germans and no food or water. He has a great personality. After Africa he was in the landings in Italy. this man has seen some serious combat and was wounded. Upon discharge he was to get medical disability for some of his on going required medical treatments etc. It seems they lost all his records! For fifty five years he had been fighting with the VA and got no where on getting a disability claim approved for his injuries during WW2. He went to Specter a few years ago. Specter staff got on it immediately. They got the right people at VA to review his case, found his records, and he went to Washington for a hearing. He was awarded a lump sum for his missed payments throughout the years. I can tell you who he will be voting for. Oh, now he is going back to VA to see if he can get what he should be getting vs the lump sum. g He is an amazing person and proud to be his friend.
