Solon, If the citizens of the Earth, truly want peace, they will have to change some of their ways. If they don't they will bear the responsibility for war, and death. Yes, there are a bunch of different religions on Earth, but if some tolerance was maintained, there still could be peace. As long as a religion other than your own, does not harm, then why can't we worship who, and how, we want to, and allow the others to do the same. Will we lose something by not doing that, or will we lose more by fighting with others about it. IMO, it is the latter. Not easy, but could be doable.

Solon, I do not believe we can ever reach a state where all or even a majority of people are atheists or agnostics. Most people INSIST that some Higher Power approve of them and their actions. Their own opinions are not sufficient. Hence religion will continue to exist as long as man.

The real question is "Can we get to a point where religions tolerate each other and atheists and agnostics?" For a whjile I tought we were getting closer. Now I doubt it.
